JB vacuum pumps do not require frequent maintenance. However, the user should replace the oil consistently to ensure the smooth operation of the pump. The user should also occasionally clean the intake filter of the pump from accumulated dirt & debris. Also, clean the intake & outlet ports of the pump to ensure smooth flow of the refrigerant from the refrigeration system.
The viscosity of vacuum pump oil is between 68 to 77 CST units. This value is for the temperature at 104 degrees F.
Users should change Robinair vacuum pump oil once the oil inside the pump seems contaminated (when observed through the sight glass). Usually, the oil turns brown or turns into foam. Even without these symptoms, the user should change the pump oil after every 100 hours of pump operation.
Users should fill JB vacuum pumps with premium oil. These types of oils maintain viscosity even at high-temperature values and improve the pump's capability against cold weather starts.
